Avis is planning to offer rental cars that have wifi hotspots (with a cellular connection) built in, for $11/day extra.
A Silicon Valley company has come up with the ultimate device for car geeks, an auto-based wi-fi system that allows any laptops within 30 metres to connect to the internet.
The Autonet Mobile Unit will be priced at 399 dollars with a 49- dollar monthly service charge and will use cellular technology to connect to a high-speed data service, according to the San Francisco Chronicle Tuesday.
The New York Times reported that the company is set to announce a partnership with Avis that will allow automobile renters to rent the units for an extra 11 dollars a day. link
