Prayer Cliché Contest [Justin]
Now that I have some thoughts on prayer out there, I think it would be helpful and fun to talk about what we no longer think prayer is.
Here is the contest:
- Write a prayer cliché
- Comment or trackback on this post, so we can find your cliché (or just leave a comment containing it)
- The winner will receive a free, one-year subscription to this blog’s RSS feed*
*This is not actually a prize. I’m bad about following through with prizes, so the entertainment and theological insight will be their own reward.
For starters:
“Prayer is like exercise for your soul”
“God always answers his knee-mail”

Too Hot Outside? Come In. The Church Is Prayer-Conditioned.
Sweet!
How about this:
“We need to talk. –God”
This reminds me of the good ol marquee…
This one was down the street from my house:
Seven days without prayer makes one weak.
It is a constant source of entertainment for my community.
Here goes:
“Seven days without prayer makes one weak!”

Oh, pipped at the post, so here goes again:
“The family that prays together, stays together”

There Are No Footholds On Your Knees!!! - Eph4:27
God grades on the cross, not the curve!
April-
That is the quintessential church sign saying - it seems like it’s trying to be a pun or something, but doesn’t quite make it, and ends up just being weird.
i know this doesnt fit the topic, but the cliches for prayer i knew were already posted, so i thought i’d just post my favorite church sign of all time:
The best Christian vitamin is B-1.
profound.
Prayer kicks ass!
