BoingBoing had a post on Sunday about LaserMonks, the Wisconsin monastery that supports itself by selling and refilling printer cartridges. Intrigued, I checked out their website, which has an extensive list of charities they support with the money they raise beyond the needs of the monastery.
My order was for six cartridges, which came to just shy of $200 (not bad for the kind I was buying), and I got free shipping. Because free shipping tends to incur punishment from companies that profit on their S&H charges, I was stunned to find the package on my doorstep today, only three days after placing my order. I guess Cistercian monks don’t consider free shipping to be incompatible with fast shipping.
Check out LaserMonks. They are the real deal and I don’t hesitate to recommend them.
