Community Voice Mail is a simple, concrete way to help those in need:

Community Voicemail offers free voicemail boxes to homess and unemployed people who are seeking work, so they’ll have a way for prospective employers to reach them. The program is very successful too: “workers distributed voicemail numbers to 145 people over 6 months, and a whopping 70% found jobs within 2 months!”

They have a short video that explains the need and the solution.

Those of us who have never had to worry about housing or phone service may take it for granted, but phone service is essential to finding a job, locating housing, and receiving calls back from service agencies. The cost is about $7 a month, paid by donors. Click here to help.
