I’m blogging from the Generous Orthodoxy Conference at SPU. Aaron and I are taking the day off of work to do some thinking, listening, and connecting with other NW EC-type people. Dwight, Harp46, Brian McLaren, Joe Myers (author of The Search to Belong), and other good peeps are standing at the front at various times.

Right now Deborah Loyd is telling her story of coming to faith in Jesus. Deb and her husband Ken minister to street kids in Portland, and pastor The Bridge Christian Church, which has a kickin’ website. She is talking about God’s faithfulness through the many stages in her life.

I?ll try to liveblog from there, but I think that the boys at Radical Congruency will be better to follow along with as they?re already there and Justin says he?s equipped with laptop, headset mic and other goodies on-site. Great sharing. It is interesting to see how much trendy vocabulary from different times confuses the clean and simply understandable. I was a philosophy major. One tool to bring everyone together is to insist, when describing beliefs and cultural foo fah, that only basic words be used to “describe”. Everyone wants to know what those big words mean anyway…why not start out with them ?! Seems like people differ less than they enjoy thinking they do. What a good conference.
