Never delete your old blogspot accounts, even if you switch to another service or want to rid the earth of your site. If you have any inbound links, porn spammers are waiting to snatch up your blogspot subdomain. Christian blogger Scot McKnight recently got his own domain and deleted his jesuscreed.blogspot.com account, and it was immediately grabbed by a porn splogger.
You can delete your template and republish, but don’t, under any circumstances, give up a blogspot name. After all, they’re free, and you don’t have to use the account to keep it alive. The best practice is to leave a post with a link to your new site.

hey i’m having trouble with blogspot.com, i deleted a post but it still comes up in when i search my name, in the search boxes of blog websites. is their a way to get rid of it??
Very true … spammers and sploggers are getting more and more refined every day. Same is true for myspace accounts, old wordpress accounts, etc etc. They have ways to search for expired accounts with PR and will register them en masse.
