Brought to you by the bastards at OnlineRewardCenter.com…the most offensive Flash ad I have ever seen:

Yes, you’re reading that correctly. A black man is moving back and forth across the banner while you aim a bull’s-eye at him and click to shoot. Apparently we’re supposed to agree that he is a gangster because he is:
a) black
b) not wearing a shirt
c) wearing a headband
d) moving back and forth with an intense look on his face
This is a new low in advertising. I would almost rather have malware autoinstaller popups.

whoa. i don’t know how that slipped through, but somebody’s gonna get fired.
I hope so. The site I saw the ad on is hosted in the Netherlands, I belive, but the ad takes you to a company that’s registered in Florida:
Online Reward Center
123 N. Congress Ave. #351
Boynton Beach, FL 33426 US
Racist loser pigs.
I saw it on AllAlias.com. How can we stop it?
lol thats hilarious! but bad yea!
Lol, yeah. Kinda funny, but still. Someone will get fired. Or in true ‘gangster’ style, shot nine times.
[...] My advice to those scared to venture down the MySpace path: Don’t be embarrassed by it, make money off it the good old fashion. Just try to do it with a little more taste. ( I was shocked to see the ad that said “shoot the gangster” and it was an African American male with his shirt off, rather innocent looking. Doesn’t look like I’m alone.) Same goes for the kiss Brad Pitt to win the Razr, and the save for college by signing up for the National Guard! [...]
There is nothing wrong with it, it is blatantly a low resolution picture of 50 cent, a self proclaimed gangster. Just another example of liberal hippy douchebags overreacting.
Oh and by the way, if that had been a white, mafia style gangster in the picture would people be crying ‘racist’? No, ofcourse they wouldn’t, seems for the writer of this article eveything involving a Black person boils down to race.
Pathetic.
That does appear to be fitty, though I’m sure they would deny using his likeness.
Would they use a picture of a chubby trenchcoat-wearing Italian-American gangster? No. If anyone sees such an ad, send me a screenshot and I’ll retract my statement.
The ad is effective because it plays on people’s stereotypes. White people are scared of urban black males, and the ad offers a sense of power to the white kids who click on it. So yes, it does boil down to race, and this is a racist ad.
‘White people are scared of urban black males, and the ad offers a sense of power to the white kids who click on it.’
Ha ha, maybe that’s how it is in America but certainly not universal, those ‘gangsta’s’ just make alot of people laugh they look so ridiculous…
