(Another non-theological, non-thoughtful post from a busy man. Expect theoblogging Saturday.)
I did our taxes today, and it was looking pretty ugly - we owed over $1000 (again). Then I entered our $16,000+ tuition bill from grad school. That bill turned into an equally large refund. Sweeet. I guess that’s one good thing about outrageous college tuition.
I am including this final sentence because, without it, the title of this post is almost as long as the body of the post, and besides, I wanted to make this point, which is why I am including this final sentence.

Dang, how do you do it? I guess because my wife and I work for MY graduate institution, and they give us a faculty discount, they actually added my discounted amount to my gross pay, thereby INCREASING the amount of tax I have to pay. I guess I shouldn’t complain, what with my 90% scholarship, but still….tax refunds rock….
P.S.: Thanks for the hookup with the site…I’ll get cracking as soon as I get settled in the new place!
Yeah, actually the refund is due to extra withholdings we set up from my check, since we owed so much last year. Amy’s salary has gone up in the middle of each year due to more teaching duties (she started off half-time), but for some reason the District never adjusted her withholdings, leaving her short at the end of the calendar year. Hopefully that won’t happen again, and I can stop withholding extra.
And if I had to choose, I think I’d take the tax bill over the grad school loans any day…:)
