Matthew 6:25-33 (source code)
And why do you worry about meeting space? See how the lilies of the field grow. They don’t take out mortgages or sign leases - yet even Solomon didn’t have as great a roof over his head. If that is how God shelters the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more find a place for your gatherings, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, “Where shall we meet,” or “How will we pay the mortgage,” or “What if we get sued?” For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that the world is full of lawyers. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and my Father will take care of all of these things.
I think we worry far too much about lawsuits and insurance in the Western church. If African Christians can meet under a tree for three hours in the hot sun, we can figure something out without having panic attacks about hypothetical situations in which someone gets hurt and sues the pants off of the congregation. Your heavenly father will take care of you. Trust Jesus. It’s not rocket science.

> our heavenly Father knows that the world is full of lawyers
Actually, if the litigants went away, the lawyers would have nothing to do.
Down with entitlements!
I don’t know…Lawyers seem to be able to find lots of things to do even if it’s not at the behest of their clients…
I really like this remix. Been thinking of gathering a group of “lost souls” (left the pews, now what?) in 2005, but one of the issues has been where to meet. I think this answers it precisely.
