If God reveals anything to you by any other instrument of His, be as ready to receive it as you were to receive any truth by my ministry, for I am verily persuaded the Lord hath more truth yet to break forth out of His Holy Word. John Robinson, 1620 AD

Blog To Do

I’m busy making lots of other websites at the moment, but eventually I want to add this stuff to my WordPress blog(s):

  • Kitten’s Calendar event calendar plugin from Kitten.
  • Set up our church site to synch with LiveJournal (Thanks to BloggingPro for the tip)
  • Install Scripturizer (a conversion of Mean Dean’s tool, I believe; same hat tip)
  • Scriptygoddess’ Subscribe-to-comments plugin (also has one for MT)
  • Install Coppermine and this WP plugin for a photo album
  • Set up a site for my school and install this plugin that allows only users of a certain permission level to view certain posts
  • Install this plugin that lets you display posts only from a certain category (I was really looking for that a week ago!)
  • Install Amazon Media Manager so it’s not such a pain to add book links
  • mt-plugins has a great comment-formatting setup that I think could be used with WP. I used it on the old MT version of this site (I think I actually drew the images from their site, naughty me!), and it would be great to set it up for WP with a little tutorial.
  • Set up a chron job to backup my MySQL databases regularly - very important with a database-driven site, because it goes down if the DB crashes.

OK, almost all of the above links are from BloggingPro.com, an amazing WordPress resource. Kitten is doing a ton of great plugin development. Hopefully these plugins and more will be included in the next release of WP - something that can’t generally happen with MT. It’s pretty amazing what the WP community has developed in so short a time. Thanks for making WP awesome. Awesomer. More awesome. Whatever.
