What in the world is Carmen Sandiego [doing on my hard drive?]

Wow. I was looking through my old Program Files folder today and found a copy of Broderbund’s 1990 hit Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego? Pixelated DOS graphics and all. It’s so old that it uses the system speaker rather than just the sound card. Awesome.

It was Carmen Sandiego that forced me to do my first major upgrade on my scratch-built PC. My CD player couldn’t read fast enough, so the plane flying from continent to continent would stop and go, and sometimes take 10 minutes to complete its journey. The kids were most unhappy.

The Chief, played by actress Lynne Thigpen, died last year. She had a great voice.
