Mars Hill Graduate School in Seattle now offers a Master of Spiritual Nurture degree:
To enable students to begin the life-long process of developing a foundational perspective on their unique gifts and weaknesses and of reading the biblical text in a manner which is relevant to the human condition.
To “read” the human soul for the purpose of healing and soul care.
To seek relevance within contemporary culture. The student will learn the importance of God-at-work in the culture.
To equip students for facilitating spiritual formation and counseling in church-related ministries, mission contexts, and parachurch settings.
To understand the process of counseling seen as a vital function of Christian community rather than a separate profession.
Also, Brian McLaren is teaching a class there in February - the week after I’m on vacation. So close!

Mars Hill is on my “short-list” of about three seminaries to attend if God, our church, and my wife all give me the freedom to begin full-time studies next fall. They seem like one of only a handful of schools that “gets it” at this point in the “delivery” of the emergent church. God willing, perhaps we can come and join SMC… =)
