Those who are possessed of a definite doctrine and of deeply rooted convictions upon it will be in a much better position to deal with the shifts and surprises of daily affairs than those who are merely taking short views, and indulging their natural impulses as they are evoked by what they read from day to day. —Winston Churchill

Public Internal Debate

I suppose I should explain the previous post: it was in response to this discussion on OST, where someone said that we wouldn’t have all the petty squabbles about doctrine if we conducted the discussions publicly, before the world. This leads to the idea that we need a missional hermeneutic - one that can make sense to outsiders, not just those intimate with theological nuances. If it doesn’t, there may be no point in having the discussion. I didn’t really respond to that, so maybe I’ll come back to it. Any thoughts on hermeneutic endeavors?
