One metanarrative for the Christian

One metanarrative for the Christian life that immediately strikes me as relevant to all times and places is the idea of following Jesus. One of the passages that tells us about the first followers is John 1:35ff. We tried Lectio Divina on this passage (v35-50) at our church planting team meeting tonight, and it was pretty powerful. Among the things that struck us:
-Jesus’ first disciples appear to have been John’s disciples first
-Their following was quite literal, though we often make symbolic applications of “following” (as we rightly may)
-Nathaniel was quick to jump to the conclusion that Jesus was the Son of God, when Jesus told him He saw him under the tree
-Perhaps Jesus indicated that he had heard Nathaniel’s “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” remark

What are some other corporate spiritual practices that we can bring into our gatherings?
